For International Women's Day, we want to spotlight Project Glimmer - the principal beneficiary of the Avec Les Filles Foundation.
Project Glimmer was founded in 2010 by Sonja Hoel Perkins to build self-confidence in adolescent girls. Recognizing that self-confidence can empower girls to use their voice, defend their values, stand up to criticism, and fuel a vision for the future, but that it doesn't grow on its own, Project Glimmer set out to fuel that growth, especially among girls living in an environment of poverty, uncertainty, or fear.
Over the last 10+ years, Project Glimmer has grown from a single holiday gift drive for forgotten teenage girls to a nationwide platform of programs that inspires a girl's ambition, connects her with a network of peers and mentors, and supplements some of her most basic personal needs. Its 2,000 community partners have enabled Project Glimmer to reach over 1,000,000 girls in all 50 states.
We're so inspired by what Project Glimmer has already achieved ––please check out their website and consider a donation or go give them a follow if you don't already.
